[Guide] Much better fonts using two commands

# Login as root using su
# Enable subpixel rendering (system wide) using two commands

## Be sure that you have that options available, it should look like this …

eselect fontconfig list
(...)
[9] 10-sub-pixel-rgb.conf *
(...)
[13] 11-lcdfilter-default.conf *
(...)

## … if yes, enable it using this:

eselect fontconfig enable 9 13

## exit root shell

exit

# Logout and login
# You should have good looking fonts on same league as in ubuntu, and better than in most distros

Optionally you can install other fonts like for example ubuntu font. They’re working very well with subpixel rendering.

I don’t see any differences. Font seems to me as it was.
The most serious problem about Calculate is not only that fonts are not sharp.
Problem is that I can’t change default font.
In some applications, fonts are changed.
For example, Droid Sans is (still) the default font in menus, although I changed default font to DejaVu Serif Book.

What DE (Desktop environment) are you using? On my plasma install there is config tool in which I can change fonts for graphic session. Other desktop environments should have similar tools.
I don’t need to change fonts for other tty’s(ctrl+alt+f1 etc.) but it should be possible using cl-utils.
In plasma5 there is separate config tool to set look of gtk apps. You have to set again same font settings, so gtk apps will have same look as qt apps.

I have been using XFCE Calculate Linux.
Global font settings is not working at all.
