Redmine Hardware: Can't resume after suspendhttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/386772019-02-24T03:35:11+03:00yun ratobe

I'm using Thinkpad T440p with intelhd, and my laptop won't wake up if I suspend it when using calculate, so the only way to turn it on again is to press power button to turn it off forcefully, and then turn it on again

thanks
Hardware: RE: Canon printer doesn't printhttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/12851?r=38470#message-384702019-01-23T16:50:59+03:00Silvio Arnone

Old thread this one, even I forgot it; good to know that Canon printheads can be removed for cleaning.
After that, I can say that no problem on CLD 2018, I have been able to install Canon printer MG3540 (3500 Series) simply using CUPS web interface.
Hardware: RE: Canon printer doesn't printhttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/12851?r=38467#message-384672019-01-22T22:30:40+03:00nate liv

Canon printheads are separate from the tanks and can usally be removed for cleaning.

Lift the top cover of the printer. Flip the inner cover down until it meets the paper output tray.

Lift up on each ink cartridge tank to remove them from the cartridge holder. Set the cartridges on one side so that the ink nozzles are not damaged.

Lift the lever beside the cartridge holder, which is the print head in this model. The print head will lift slightly when you raise the lever.

Pull the print head straight up out of the printer.

Rinse the print head thoroughly under warm running water from the tap taking are not to get water in the circuit board on the back of the print head. Run the water particularly into each hole where the print cartridges sit and underneath where the ink comes out. Do this until the water runs clear. Shake the print head vigourously to remove excess water and then place on a sheet of absorbent paper to dry. Reassemble, run a couple of cleaning cycles with the print cartridges reinstalled and try the print nozzle check again. I have done this with several Canon printer in the past and found it works.

Some people recommend standing the print head in warm water overnight, other have used isopropyl alcohol - personally using running warm water has always worked for me although it can take several goes.

Usually /dev/mmcblk0 is the SD card slot on a laptop, and usually you cannot boot from that unless it is internally USB connected, in which case it would NOT be /dev/mmcblk0. If you have a card inserted in that slot, remove it. If your laptop is capable of booting from that slot, check boot order in BIOS and make sure that it is far down the list if on the list at all.

Assuming that you are using BIOS, not UEFI, you may have better luck using "Other" when it gets to the partitioning part, set up the partitions yourself, and there is a dropdown list to select where to install grub, which would most commonly be /dev/sda if that is your only drive. I sometimes put grub on a partition with the boot flag moved to that partition instead of mbr on a PC with Win7 because rarely some Win7 updates fail if using grub instead of standard mbr, in which case I can temporarily move the boot flag to Windows until the update is successful. But you do not have to be concerned with that if not using Windows at all.

Hey
Got issue resolved by manually regenerating grub configs and letting xorg to generate new one.

not sure what job is done by cl-setup-video :)
Hardware: RE: grapics card changehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/37220?r=38038#message-380382018-11-09T09:46:21+03:00dragan legic

There is no Intel but my humble opinion is that you have to delete xorg.conf or rename it to xorg.conf.old. You have to change the grub (/etc/default/grub) and delete the radeon, make the update grub, restart but i do not know what is written for Intel. You may not have all the files installed for Intel. I can use program the GUI Porthole and I can precisely see what is installed.
Yes, sure.
I also checked xorg and grub configs - both still reference Radeon driver.
Hardware: RE: grapics card changehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/37220?r=38033#message-380332018-11-08T06:09:55+03:00Alexander Tratsevskiy

Hi Valentin,
Did you restart your PC after executing the command?
Hardware: RE: grapics card changehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/37220?r=38031#message-380312018-11-06T23:11:37+03:00Valentin Munitsa

Thanks for reply. I have similar problem - but i want to switch from radeon to nouveau.
Nouveau is intalled but after i execute
cl-setup-video --video nouveau

cl-setup-video --list
shows that i still use radeon driver.
Even switch to automatic configuration does nothing - radeon driver remains selected.
Executing commands above gives no errors.
Hardware: RE: [SOLVED] Problem with Ryzen CPU and KDE Upgradehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/37971?r=37984#message-379842018-10-25T00:30:21+03:00BH Reach

The latest kde plus ksudoku upgrade plus reboot fixes the problem.

Thank you.
Hardware: [SOLVED] Problem with Ryzen CPU and KDE Upgradehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/379712018-10-22T05:18:02+03:00BH Reach

The latest KDE upgrade broke Ksudoku on my Ryzen CPU computer. I tested Ksudoku on 2 other computers with older CPU's and Ksudoku still works OK on them after the KDE upgrade.

The problem with Ksudoku on my Ryzen CPU computer is that for most of the game variants, I get this error message:

Unable to generate a puzzle of the chosen variant; please try another.

Before the most recent KDE upgrade, all the variants worked, i.e., no error message.
Hardware: RE: its the old the Ryzen 5 2400g Apu and cinnamon not getting along issuehttp://old.calculate-linux.org/boards/23/topics/37766?r=37772#message-377722018-08-27T14:06:34+03:00Mikhail Hiretsky
